In the final weeks leading up to Graduation Day 2022, EAB will celebrate each of its Seniors via the Senior Spotlight. The High School Faculty is committed to making sure each member of the Class of 2022 knows how much they have meant to this school and how proud we are of them. Today, the Senior in the spotlight is Alice Machado Tolipan. Alice has been a proud Bull for the past two years.
Alice reflects back on her favorite memories over the past two years and one moment that really sticks out for her is field day, saying "I never had that in my old school, so being able to join with my class and dance with them was great - also getting Mr Martorelli and Ms Corcoran to dance with us was amazing, definitely one of my favorite moments at EAB". When asked about what she would miss the most about her time here Alice went on to reflect on the EAB community saying " having such close relationships with all of my teachers is something so unique to EAB, especially with it being a small school, I really feel like I am part of something bigger and that I've had the amazing opportunity to really get to know every single person in my school. I have made friendships here in my two years that I hope to carry with me for life, as well as having teachers that have completely changed the way I look at school and at life."
Alice is most proud of how far she has come as a person and a student, feeling like she has grown a lot over her time here at the school. She said " I feel like I've grown through having the experience of living in a new country and meeting people from all over the world. I am also so proud of how I have improved as a student over these two years. I look back at my work and I am so impressed at how I've managed to do so much in such little time."
Alice would like to take this opportunity to thank her teachers for helping her so much and having so much patience with her over the last two years. She would like to extend a special thank you to Ms Leishear saying, "Thank you for always being here and being available to listen and to help me with all of my problems, I would not be where I am today without your support." Alice's teachers will remember her fondly saying "She is unafraid to take on a challenge, as she did with her extended essay (i.e. in film, and not a film student)."
Alice will leave to pursue a degree in Medical Sciences but is planning on taking a gap year to travel the world. As she contemplates her future she leaves us with these words "In the future, I hope to be working to help people through medicine and my love for the sciences. I could be a doctor, or I could be using my medical skills to create medicines or to research different diseases etc. I hope to come back to Brazil one day as I really feel that I've found a home here and I would love to live near the beach."
