In the final weeks leading up to Graduation Day 2022, EAB will celebrate each of its Seniors via the Senior Spotlight. The High School Faculty is committed to making sure each member of the Class of 2022 knows how much they have meant to this school and how proud we are of them. Today, the Senior in the spotlight is Ana Cristina Matias. She has been a proud member of the EAB Community for the past six years.
When asked about her favorite memories about the school Ana remembers the two best days she has ever had here at EAB: 2018 and 2021 Fields Days when she and her class decided to separate their differences for the greater good, winning the Field Day. Although this has been hard for her specifically, she "still holds these days close to (her) heart".
The supporting environment provided by her teachers and the sense of safety and companionship are things that she learned to appreciate here at EAB and she is "eternally grateful for it". During her path as an EAB student Ana has learned how to face the challenges life throws throughout the way and to create a sense of empathy for the people around her realizing that "there is more to school than just grades".
Ana would like to thank Ms. Corcoran for always supporting her in English and personally; Mr. Teters for making Math class fun and teaching her how to persevere during rough times; Ms. Gracinha for her knowledge and charisma during class; Mr. Bair for always listening to her when she had a concern and Ms. Lima for always taking the time to listen and help her when she needed and lastly her friends for always making her days better.
The gratitude does not come only from her, it also comes from her teachers that had the pleasure of having her in class and in Flex Teams. They say that she "has flourished in her Senior year".
In one of her teachers' words: "Ana Christina has been one of the most positive students I have experienced. When things are going well, she has demonstrated gratitude. When things are challenging or have not gone as well as she had planned, she has demonstrated optimism and persistence".
Ana will be remembered as a "very polite, kind and mature student". We wish her all the best in her next step after graduation and know she will bring her graciousness wherever she may roam.
