In the final weeks leading up to Graduation Day 2022, EAB will celebrate each of its Seniors via the Senior Spotlight. The High School Faculty is committed to making sure each member of the Class of 2022 knows how much they have meant to this school and how proud we are of them. Today, the Senior in the spotlight is Roxy Momax. Roxy has been a proud Bull for the past two years.
Roxy entered EAB in the beginning of her junior year, when classes were completely online. This situation must have been especially challenging as a new student, but Roxy made the best of it from the beginning, using her engagement and strength forming relationships to accelerate her integration into the community. As we returned to campus, she continued contributing in a way that solidified her importance, taking part and leading important initiatives around school.
Ms. Bree writes about the role Roxy has played leading BCS this year "Roxanne has had my back at every BCS meeting, leading and encouraging students to participate in our projects. She is a rock. She is passionate, organized, and truly desires to help those around her. Roxanne understands and recognizes the fact that she has the power, ability, and means to make the world a better place. And for that, I adore her."
Roxy will particularly remember coming back to school after being online for so long. She values "all the activities we have been able to do despite Covid," and will miss "how tight-knit the community is, being able to feel connected to so many of the people around campus [with] so many friendly and familiar faces." Roxy was a noticeable part of this environment, forming so many relationships, consistently supporting her peers in all aspects of school life. One of her teachers recalls:
"What a nice person to chat with! She is definitely the kind of person who changes the atmosphere as soon as she arrives. Roxy is funny, intelligent and always has something to contribute in class. She works as a machine: fast and effective. I love when she smiles with her eyes!"
Ms Corcoran added "Roxy gets more awesome every day".
With so many distinguishing personal and academic accomplishments, Roxy is most proud of overcoming the challenges of the past two years and completing the IB program while persevering through the social/emotional issues along the way. She would like to specifically thank "Ms. Kahle, Ms. Corcoran, and all the people behind the scenes, the maintenance team, the guards and the cafeteria staff."
Roxy has certainly made a mark on EAB during her short time here. We will miss her, but wish her luck pursuing a degree in Economics and Politics.
