EAB Dry Season Protocol
EAB Athletics and Activities

As we move through the Dry Season in Brasilia, student health and safety remain our top priority. During this time of year, temperatures and humidity levels can rise to levels that impact safe participation in outdoor activities. To ensure the well-being of all students, our Athletics and PE Departments will follow the Heat/Humidity Index recommendations provided daily by our school’s Health Unit.

How the Protocol Works

Each day, our Health Unit reviews the Heat and Humidity Index and provides guidance on safe activity levels. Based on these recommendations, adjustments will be made to:

  • PE Classes: Outdoor lessons may be shortened, relocated indoors, or modified with lower-intensity activities when conditions require.

  • Recess: Students will continue to enjoy unstructured play, but recess may be moved indoors or shifted to shaded areas during higher-risk times of the day.

  • After-School Athletics & Activities: Coaches and activity leaders will adapt practice plans, limit exposure, increase hydration breaks, or move sessions indoors depending on daily conditions.

Key Safety Measures in Place

  • Hydration: Extra water breaks will be scheduled across all activities.

  • Shaded/Indoor Options: When the index indicates higher risk, students will move indoors or to shaded areas.

  • Reduced Intensity: Activities may be modified to lighter drills, skill-based work, or team meetings rather than strenuous exercise.

  • Close Monitoring: Staff and coaches are trained to identify early signs of heat-related stress and will respond immediately if a student shows symptoms.

Our Commitment

By following this daily protocol, we ensure that students remain active, engaged, and safe during the Dry Season. We ask for your support in encouraging students to bring water bottles daily to help them stay hydrated.

Together, we can maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment for all of our students during this warm season.
