Dear EAB Parents,
We’re excited to invite you to a series of Parent Coffee sessions this semester, where we’ll explore how technology is seamlessly integrated into learning at EAB. Join us for insights on how technology enhances your child’s education and discover practical tools to support its use at home. Sessions are scheduled for Lower School (Oct 1st), Middle School (Oct 29th), and High School (date TBD).
Lower School: Building a Foundation for Digital Learning
Tuesday, October 1st at 8:15 am
In the Lower School, technology is introduced in a way that fosters creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Our programs focus on helping students develop digital literacy and become responsible technology users from an early age. We will be hosting a parent information session that will cover:
- Introduction to the digital tools used in the classroom, such as tablets, educational apps, and interactive learning platforms.
- How we emphasize online safety and responsible use in a fun, age-appropriate manner.
- Tips for parents to support safe technology habits at home, including managing screen time and using parental controls.
Middle School: Expanding Digital Skills and Responsibility
Tuesday, October 29th at 8:15 am
In Middle School, we deepen students' understanding of technology by incorporating it more comprehensively into academic and collaborative work. Students are taught to use digital tools for research, communication, and creative projects, while building a foundation of responsible digital citizenship.
At our Middle School parent information session, you will learn about:
- The key platforms and tools your child is using for assignments and projects, including productivity apps and online collaboration spaces.
- How we will incorporate time during Flex sessions to guide students to balance technology with other important aspects of their school life, including time management and maintaining face-to-face interactions.
- Practical advice on supporting your child’s use of technology for academic purposes, including setting up structured study times and encouraging critical thinking about online content.
High School: Preparing for the Future with Advanced Technology Use
November date to be determined
In High School, students engage with technology in more sophisticated ways, preparing them for college, careers, and a digitally-driven world. Whether it’s using advanced software for STEM projects, digital media creation, or conducting research online, our goal is to ensure that students can harness the power of technology for academic and personal growth.
During our High School parent information session, we will explore:
- The advanced tools and platforms used by students for coursework and research, such as media creation tools and coding/robotics platforms.
- Our approach to digital and AI ethics, including how to properly cite the use of AI.
- Strategies for parents to support their high schooler’s technology use, including fostering a healthy digital lifestyle and preparing them for the independence required in college.
Supporting You at Home
We recognize that the partnership between school and home is essential in shaping your child's digital experience. Each division will also provide parents with resources and guides on how to manage technology use at home, including tools for monitoring online activity and strategies for encouraging responsible behavior.
We invite you to join us for these engaging sessions, where you can learn more and ask questions about how we can partner to support your child’s development in today’s digital landscape.
