This week, EAB had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Kleber Silva, associate professor at the Universidade de Brasília, for an exploration of the profound impact of language in our lives. Through his insightful sessions, Dr. Silva inspired our community to reflect on how words carry historical significance, shape our understanding of the world, and either build connections or create divisions.

On Wednesday, Dr. Silva met with Teaching Assistants and Brazilian Department faculty to discuss how language can foster inclusivity in education, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful communication in creating supportive learning environments. 

On Thursday, he led parents in a thought-provoking discussion on how understanding the origins of language equips us to confront discrimination with knowledge and confidence. Later that day, Middle School students reflected on the transformative power of words during his inspiring session.

Dr. Silva’s visit reminded us that language is not just a tool for communication but a force for meaningful change. We’re excited to announce that he will return next year to continue these vital conversations with our High School students and staffulty, reinforcing EAB’s commitment to respect, inclusion, and critical thinking.
