One of the reasons that events bring us joy is that they give us an opportunity to celebrate togetherness. Some of you may remember our last Festa Junina. At a moment when we couldn't be together, we were able to adapt and celebrate through a drive thru event.

Last week was our first in person, on campus, open to the entire EAB community event in two years. We were thrilled to welcome from our youngest to our eldest, family, faculty, staff, and alumnus! We enjoyed great music, beautiful presentations, and tasted amazing typical festa junina food. However, I believe that most of us can agree that the highlight of the evening was being able to celebrate together.

Throughout this event there were details that recreated a small portion of brazilian culture. Yet, if you look past stereotypes of countryside life and this festivity's purpose of celebrating a good harvest, there is a big lesson to be learned: we shouldn't take for granted our gift of togetherness. 

Thank you to all who helped make this event possible. It was a pleasure being together like the ''old" days.

FESTA JUNINA: Celebrando Juntos, Aprendendo Juntos

Uma das razões pelas quais  eventos nos trazem alegria é que eles nos dão a oportunidade de celebrar juntos. Alguns de vocês talvez se lembrem da nossa última Festa Junina. Em um momento em que não podíamos estar juntos, conseguimos fazer uma adaptação e pudemos celebrar através de um evento drive-thru.

O evento da semana passado foi o nosso primeiro em pessoa, no campus, e aberto para toda a comunidade EAB ao mesmo tempo em dois anos. Ficámos entusiasmados por receber dos mais novos aos mais velhos, familiares, professores, prestadores de serviço, e ex-alunos! Apreciamos músicas excelentes, belas apresentações, e saboreamos deliciosas comidas típicas de festa junina. Contudo, acredito que a maioria de nós pode concordar que o ponto alto da noite foi a possibilidade de celebrarmos juntos.

Este evento recriou uma pequena parte da cultura brasileira. No entanto, se olharmos além dos estereótipos da vida no campo e do propósito desta festa de celebrar uma boa colheita, há uma grande lição a se aprender: não devemos tomar por garantido o nosso presente de estarmos juntos. 

Obrigado a todos os que ajudaram a tornar este evento possível. Foi um prazer estarmos juntos como nos ''velhos'' tempos.
