TTT: Incorporating TOK Into the Classroom
Kristin Agostini | IB Chemistry & Theory of Knowledge Teacher

The Teachers Teaching Teachers (TTT) Sessions happen every Wednesday and were designed as a chance for our faculty and staff to share their incredible wealth of knowledge with each other.

This week we had Ms. Kristin Agostini, our  IB Chemistry / Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Teacher, talking about incorporating TOK into the classroom.

Why did you choose this theme to teach?

I love Theory of Knowledge and I want more teachers to feel comfortable incorporating it in their classroom! TOK is an IB course that most high school teachers hear about, but don't actually know much about. If I can demystify the nature of the course and show all teachers how it connects to them, I think teachers in all grade levels will be able to start expanding our students' thinking.

How do you think this will impact students?

As our IB teachers incorporate this explicitly into their classes, students will begin to see that TOK is all around them - not just something to be thought about when writing an essay or sitting in class. As our younger students get exposed to more of the knowledge concepts and different ways of thinking, they'll be able to explore answers to questions from multiple perspectives and perhaps even consider the implications of what they are learning!
