College and Career Corner: Champlain College

Nestled in the Champlain Valley in Burlington Vermont, Champlain College definitely punches above its weight. It is on most lists for top undergraduate programs in both Business and Computer Science. While less than 2,000 students attend Champlain, they offer over 80 subject areas for degrees. While known for Cyber Security and Computer Science, Champlain offers such disparate majors as Animation, Applied Sustainability, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Filmmaking, Finance, Law, Marketing and Psychology.
 
Students report that academics is the big draw. At Champlain, All classes are taught by Professors, not assistants and are very interactive. One unique aspect of Champlain is their Upside-Down Curriculum, which means students can dive into major-specific classes in their first semester and they are prepared for serious internships in the first year. Most students will complete at least one Internship while attending Champlain.
 
While academics are most important, quality of life is also good. Dorms are pretty spectacular with Freshman Dorms located in renovated Victorian-Era Mansions. Burlington, Vermont is also a draw, the air is clean and the scenery is beautiful. Situated in the historic Hill Section of Burlington, overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains, the campus is lovely. Feeling like a University town, Burlington is the home to three universities (St Michael's College and University of Vermont) including Champlain. Rated the best College Town in the US, there are many shopping and eating options all within walking distance. The Ben and Jerry's factory is also located near Champlain.

Notable Alumni: While small Champlain has some impressive alumni. These include: Moshe Alafi - Biotech Pioneer and Entrepreneur, Maxyne Finkelstein - Organizer and President for NGO's, Volodymyr Heninson - Former President of the Ukrainian Premier League, and Mark Camacho - Canadian Film Actor.

Fun Fact: The Champlain Varsity Sports teams provide competitive athletic scholarships for student athletes, managers, and coaches!
