In the middle of Southern California, in Orange California, is Chapman University. While the sunshine in California makes it a great place to be, the real star is the academics. A small school (less than 8,000 students), classes are taught by professors and most are small (average size 15) and interactive.  Students find the professors engaging and helpful. Outside of the classroom research and internship opportunities are plentiful. While acceptance is 60%, 92% of first-year students return for their second year at Chapman. Learning is very hands-on.

Near Hollywood and Disneyland, Chapman’s Dodge Film School is ranked number 4 in the US. Chapman is respected for their Business and Marketing degrees, as well as Public Relations. While the Arts are well-represented with Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Art and Design; Science and Technology are also strong options at Chapman. In all they have 110 majors available.

Students tend to be equally active outside of the classroom and report being happy. On campus there are numerous cultural events such as concerts, art exhibits, and lectures. While not as diverse as some campuses, there tends to be a sense of community and students are collaborative. Of course Southern California has many cultural venues and beaches.

Notable Alumni: American Actor-Colin Hanks; American Film maker and Actor-Justin Simien; First African American umpire in Major League Baseball-Emmett Ashford; Former Minister of Social Affairs of Indonesia-Juliari Batubara; Comedian-Leslie Jones; and Former US Ambassador to Spain-George Argyros.

Fun Fact: Chapman University actively created a space designed to inspire its students. In 2009, they dedicated the Ambassador George L. Argyros Global Citizens Plaza. In this plaza are international flags that represent the identities of the student body, faculty and staff at Chapman University.
