Upper School News

The Senior Walk began in May 2017 to provide the EAB Community an opportunity to pay tribute to the Seniors on the day before their graduation.  In the five years since its inception, the Walk has become a beloved rite of passage that provides inspiration to our younger students, who are walking the same path the Seniors have just completed.  It is a touching, emotional EAB tradition that so clearly highlights the relationships of love and care that form the backbone of the EAB Education. 

Last Saturday, the Class of 2022 graduated from The American School of Brasilia in spectacular fashion at the Centro de Convenções de Ulysses Guimaraes.  It was an event worthy of our Seniors and our school.    

Each year, I end my speech to the graduates with the following words:

And now you leave the halls of The American School of Brasilia.  You are ready.  What's more, I speak on behalf of the entire High School Faculty when I say that we are proud of you, proud of who you are, proud of what you have accomplished, and thankful that we got to share this important time in your lives with you.  

And as you now strike out to make your way in the world we hope for you happiness.  We hope for you love. We hope for you peace and joy.  We hope for you passion and purpose.  We hope you accomplish your heart's desire.  We hope you find the courage within yourself to be kind and the strength to be persistent. Finally, we hope - we believe - you will continue to represent this school well and that throughout your lives you will leave each place you touch a bit better for your having been there.  

The Class of 2022 is a wonderful group of young people who have endured much hardship in their high school years. Through it all, they have overcome all obstacles while maintaining the warmth and kindness that defines their class. They are great EAB Kids who make us proud, now and forever.  Congratulations, Class of 2022, and godspeed.

A Senior Walk começou em Maio de 2017, para providenciar à Comunidade EAB uma oportunidade para homenagear os alunos no dia anterior à formatura. Nos cinco anos desde a sua criação, a caminhada tornou-se um rito de passagem que fornece inspiração para nossos alunos mais jovens, que estão trilhando o mesmo caminho que os alunos do 12 ano acabaram de completar. É uma tradução tocante e emocionante que destaca tão claramente as relações de amor e cuidado que formam a espinha dorsal da Educação EAB. 

No último sábado, a Turma de 2022 se formou na Escola Americana de Brasília de forma espetacular no Centro de Convenções de Ulysses Guimarães.  Foi um evento digno para os nossos alunos do 12 ano e para a nossa escola. 

Todos os anos, termino meu discurso aos graduados com as seguintes palavras:

E agora vocês saem dos Salões da Escola Americana de Brasília. Vocês estão prontos. Ademais, falo em nome de todo o corpo docente do Ensino Médio quando digo que estamos orgulhosos de vocês, orgulhosos de quem vocês são, orgulhosos do quanto já realizaram e gratos por podermos compartilhar este momento importante em suas vidas com vocês. 

E como vocês começam a trilhar o seu caminho no mundo, esperamos que vocês sejam felizes. Desejamos amor. Desejamos paz e alegria. Desejamos paixão e propósito. Esperamos que vocês realizem o desejo de seus corações. Esperamos que vocês encontrem dentro de si a coragem de serem gentis e a força para serem persistentes. Finalmente, esperamos - acreditamos - que vocês continuem a representar bem esta escola e que ao longo de suas vidas vocês deixarão cada lugar que tocarem um pouco melhor por ter estado lá. 

A turma de 2022 é um grupo maravilhoso de jovens que passaram por muitas dificuldades em seus anos de ensino médio. Por tudo isso, eles superaram todos os obstáculos, mantendo o calor e a gentileza que definem esta série. Eles são ótimos alunos da EAB que nos deixam orgulhosos, agora e para sempre. Parabéns, Classe de 2022, boa sorte e Deus os acompanhe.
