EAB is proud to host the first-ever ISTA Festival in South America, taking place February 13–15. This prestigious event will bring together students and educators from the Pan American School of Bahia, the International School of Curitiba, the American School of Campinas, the American School of Rio de Janeiro, and the School of the Nations for a unique global learning through theatre experience.
What is the ISTA Festival?
The ISTA Festival is organized by the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA), a UK-based charity that has been fostering creative learning and global collaboration for over 40 years. With 225+ member schools across 90 countries, ISTA is the official global provider of IB Diploma Theatre training.
Using the ISTA Ensemble Method, the festival promotes story-based inquiry, collaboration, and cultural exploration. It encourages students to engage with global themes through theatre, connecting learning, creativity, and community-building.
What Happens at an ISTA Festival?
ISTA Festivals are immersive, hands-on experiences where students:
- Work in ensembles led by professional ISTA artists.
- Explore global themes through storytelling and theatre.
- Engage in cultural experiences tied to the festival’s location.
- Present a final collaborative performance during EAB’s World Fest on February 15.
Unlike traditional theatre competitions, ISTA Festivals emphasize learning, creativity, and global connections, making it a truly transformative experience.
Why This Festival Matters
Participating in ISTA allows students to:
- Collaborate with peers from around the world.
- Develop theatre skills while gaining confidence.
- Engage with global issues through creative expression.
- Celebrate diversity and forge international friendships
A Historic First for South America
This marks a significant milestone as the first ISTA Festival ever held in South America, reinforcing EAB’s commitment to arts education and global learning. By hosting this prestigious event, EAB provides students with an unparalleled opportunity to engage in an internationally recognized theatre festival without leaving Brasília.
EAB is honored to be part of this initiative and looks forward to welcoming students, teachers, and ISTA artists for what promises to be an inspiring and enriching experience.
