Service

EduArtes is a signature EAB service program that has been transforming lives for more than 13 years. Through this initiative, Upper School students design interactive lesson plans and teach English to student-athletes from underprivileged satellite cities across Brasília.

We currently partner with two organizations:

• Meninas e Meninos da Vila DVO (Gama) — an eight-year partnership serving 30 children ages 6–18
• Capital Feminina — recently renewed, now serving 15 girls ages 6–13

By building English proficiency, EduArtes aims to expand future opportunities for these young athletes—supporting them in accessing better job prospects and, for some, strengthening their chances of earning soccer scholarships abroad. EduArtes continues to grow as a meaningful bridge between EAB students and the broader community, fostering leadership, empathy, and real-world impact.

The Bulls Community Service (BCS) club brings Upper School students together to serve both the EAB and greater Brasília communities. Throughout the year, students lead fundraising initiatives such as Bulls Giving Day, bake sales, and handmade blanket sales to support partner institutions. They also organize donation drives, including Cabelegria (Hair Drive), Meias do Bem (Sock Drive), and the Refugee Drive.

BCS members participate in approximately six field trips annually, visiting partners such as Creche São Francisco and Creche Alecrim (public daycares), Sociedade Humanitária Brasileira (animal shelter), and S.O.S. Aldeias Infantis (refugee shelter).

In addition, students organize an annual appreciation celebration for EAB’s maintenance and security staff and lead a gratitude card initiative for teachers. Together with NHS, they purchase, wrap, and deliver over 200 holiday gifts each year to children at partner daycares.

BCS also offers a comprehensive First Aid Course, where students receive hands-on training, are assessed in CPR, and earn official Red Cross certification. Over the past two years, 60 students have completed the program.

Through these initiatives, BCS fosters empathy, leadership, and a lasting commitment to service.

EAB Goes Green (EGG) leads sustainability efforts on campus through a variety of year-round projects. One of their key initiatives, Pata na Tampa, collects plastic caps that are sorted and recycled—helping reduce waste while supporting organizations that care for abandoned animals.

EGG students also participate in two clean-ups each year, helping keep Brasília’s public spaces healthy and beautiful.

Currently, members are collecting plastic for an EcoBricks project, transforming clean, compacted plastic placed inside bottles into durable “bricks” that can be used for construction and environmental education.

Through these projects, EGG empowers students to take meaningful action in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability within the community.
 

The National Honor Society (NHS) at EAB is a respected student organization grounded in the pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Members maintain a minimum 5.5 GPA while actively serving the community and leading by example both in and beyond the classroom.

Each year, NHS students participate in and lead meaningful service initiatives. Ongoing projects include the Uniform Drive, which promotes sustainability and raises funds for service efforts; the Family Program with EAB scholarship students; Lower School tutoring in English and Math; and campus-wide assistance programs that support various school initiatives.

NHS members also organize fundraisers such as bake sales, candy grams, and holiday events to support partner institutions. Beyond campus, they collaborate with organizations such as BCS and Aldeias Infantis SOS, contributing through service visits, refugee support drives, educational supply collections for public schools, and a twice-yearly Blood Drive in partnership with Hemocentro.

Through these efforts, NHS students demonstrate a strong commitment to service and strive to make a meaningful impact in both the EAB and Brasília communities.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) at EAB is founded on the pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Students must maintain a 5.8 GPA while actively participating in service initiatives and demonstrating leadership within the school community. NJHS members design, organize, and support projects that benefit both the EAB campus and the wider Brasília community.

NJHS students collaborate with BCS to create holiday cards for more than 200 children at Creche São Francisco and Creche Alecrim. They also participate in a service field trip to Aldeias Infantis SOS Brasil, a refugee shelter, where they spend time engaging and supporting children and adolescents who have recently arrived in Brazil. Additionally, NJHS members volunteer on Lower School field trips, assisting teachers and younger students to ensure smooth and safe experiences.
To support their service projects, students organize candy gram fundraisers, developing leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills while giving back to the community.

The Self Harboring Empowerment (SHE) club is dedicated to promoting health, dignity, and empowerment for women and girls in our community. Each year, SHE organizes and participates in a Pink October race, supporting runners and honoring individuals and families impacted by breast cancer.

SHE students also lead the Hygiene Equity Initiative, a student-designed project aimed at addressing menstrual poverty and hygiene insecurity among adolescent girls in under-resourced areas of Brasília. Through this initiative, the club partners with Creche Alecrim and Aldeias Infantis SOS Brasília to assemble and distribute 250 hygiene kits and to deliver educational workshops on menstrual and dental health.

Each kit includes essential items such as sanitary products, soap, deodorant, and dental-care supplies. The project’s goals are to reduce stigma surrounding menstruation, promote health and well-being, and help girls feel confident, informed, and supported in their daily lives.
 

Grade 4 students explore service through connections to their learning units. As part of their study of body parts, they visit the Sociedade Humanitária Brasileira animal shelter, where they learn about the challenges abandoned animals face—many having lost a leg, ear, or eye due to mistreatment, accidents, or disease. Grade 4 also studies children’s rights and participates in a field trip to an orphanage that supports underprivileged children, many of whom have disabilities or learning differences. By engaging in these activities, students develop more empathy and compassion for children and animals, and they begin to understand the world from a different perspective.

Grade 5 students deepen their understanding of global issues through a visit to the Aldeias Infantis SOS Refugee Shelter, aligned with their unit on refugees. This experience allows them to witness firsthand the difficulties families face when arriving in Brazil—adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, and coping with the loss of their home countries.

Through these experiences, students develop empathy, compassion, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
