Senior Spotlight: Huat Hee Chiang

In the final weeks leading up to Graduation Day 2020, EAB will celebrate each of its Seniors via the Senior Spotlight.  Though many of the Senior Traditions cannot happen this year, the High School Faculty is committed to making sure each member of the Class of 2020 knows how much they have meant to this school and how proud we are of them.  Today, the Senior in the spotlight is Huat Hee Chiang.

Huat has been a proud member of the EAB Community since arriving on campus in tenth grade.  In his time at EAB, Huat has many good memories, his favorite of which was "a time where my physics friends and I got trapped in the physics room because the door handle broke.  We felt like zoo animals as teachers and students alike took turns looking in through the tiny window on the door."  Naturally a quiet person, in reflecting on his time at EAB, Huat is most proud that he has become more outspoken.  Huat will miss hanging out with his friends.  He would especially like to thank his parents, teachers, and counselor.

Huat's teachers commented on his commitment to and determination for academic excellence, with his chemistry teacher noting, "Huat has been a quiet powerhouse...He always strives to do his best and does not give up.  He is motivated, clever, and creative.  When tough situations have made him struggle, he has worked to make it better."  Another teacher echoed this, stating, "Learn, study, revise, fail, study, revise, improve, study, revise, achieve.  This is Huat's mantra.  He never gave up."  This teacher went on to comment on Huat's personality and the way in which it contributed to class, "His goodwill, cheer, and ability to motivate us all when times were tough is something I will always remember.  Thank you for your kindness and care and the respect you have always shown for our work."  His BSS teacher noted his commitment to extracurricular activities, recalling a wonderful BSBMUN performance and commenting on his talent in golf.

EAB will miss Huat's quiet confidence, as well as his grit and commitment to excellence.  We wish him all the best in what we know will be a bright future!

Flavio has been a dedicated member of the EAB Community since arriving on campus in tenth grade. His trademark assembly scream showed his commitment to the EAB team! Senior Spotlight: Marina Covre

Marina has been a proud member of the EAB Community since arriving on campus in grade 11. Although she has only been at EAB for two years, Marina has had a profound impact on the EAB community. She developed and executed the Yellow September project, and her favorite memory is "seeing how both students and staff collaborated" on this, resulting in "a great experience". Marina is most proud of her strength, as she moved to Brasilia alone to pursue her education at EAB.
Senior Spotlight: Yordan Janssen
May 29, 2020
Yordan joined the school in his junior year and since that time, despite the academic demands made of him during the IB program, he has actively involved himself in the wider life of the school community. He cites as his most memorable moment “the ambiance of last year’s IB exams” because, as a junior, he could spend time with friends, with the dogs on campus (to help with exam stress), as well as “help support the seniors through their challenging time”.
Senior Spotlight: Duda Bulhoes
May 29, 2020
Duda has been a proud and dedicated member of the EAB Community since arriving on campus as a four year old. She has been part of campus life with the Seniors her entire life; she feels she will miss EAB "because she was in a place she could find comfort when she needed" with "friends or a teacher". At EAB, Duda always "had someone she talk to whenever she felt stressed or overwhelmed". She is proudest of her evolution in the IB Arts program" because "it really helped her express her emotions" as well as helping her "open up about her feelings and improve as a person".
